Your Guide to Copper Mountain, Colorado
Copper Mountain is about 75 miles west of Denver on I-70, in Summit County. Our three condos are in Center Village, the heart of the resort, steps from the lifts, restaurants and shops.
This season
Copper opens for the 2026/27 season on Friday, November 6. Early season is one of our favorite times on the mountain: quieter slopes, crisp bluebird days and some of the best rates of the winter. Holiday weeks fill fast, so if you're eyeing Christmas or New Year's, book direct with us soon.
Winter: ski and ride
Copper has more than 2,400 acres and 140 trails, with a summit above 12,300 feet. The terrain is naturally divided, with easier runs to the west and steeper ones to the east, so groups of mixed abilities can each find their spot.
Ski from Center Village: walk out the door to the lifts, with no shuttle and no parking at the base. The Woodward terrain parks are some of Colorado's best known for freestyle skiers and riders.
Plan ahead: Copper requires every vehicle to be registered for resort parking. Our guidebook walks you through it.
Summer: the secret season
The Copper Triangle is a famous road-cycling loop that starts at Copper. Hiking trails head straight into the mountains, with the Eagles Nest Wilderness just north of the resort. There's golf at Copper Creek, and patios and seasonal events in the village. Check the resort's event calendar when you book.
Nearby
Frisco is 8 miles east on Dillon Reservoir, with Main Street dining, groceries and paddleboarding in summer. Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin are all a short drive away.
Jon & Tari's favorites
Outer Range Brewing Co. (Frisco): one of our favorite breweries in Colorado, known for hazy IPAs. Order from Birdcraft inside.
Chimayo Grill: if you like fish tacos, get the Baja fish tacos.
Butterhorn Bakery & Cafe: a great spot for breakfast or lunch.
Bluebird Market (Silverthorne): a food hall with lots of choices and a bar in the middle, perfect for groups that can't agree.
High Rockies Whiskey & Wine Bar: right in Center Village, with a tequila bar downstairs.
Ski rentals tip: Charter Sports has a location in Center Village for convenience, and shops in Frisco are often a little cheaper.
Tips from your hosts
At 9,700+ feet, drink extra water and take it easy your first day. Arrive midweek to beat weekend I-70 traffic.
